My favorite hobby is sewing. It is a very relaxing way to spend an afternoon. Sewing can produce beautiful handmade gifts for friends and family. Patience is required for this hobby. Many projects take several days or even weeks, but the finished project is usually worth the time. There are different types of sewing. There is hand sewing and machine sewing. Machine sewing is much faster. One would use a machine to make clothing or large items, bags, curtains, blankets etc. Even on large projects hand sewing is required. Buttons must be sewed on by hand. Some machines can do fancy stitching, but most fancy stitching must be done be hand. Many small projects can be done without the use of a machine, which is costly and complicated to operate. Some areas of hand sewing include knitting, crocheting, and embroidery. One type of embroidery is cross stitching, a type of sewing where Xs are made on a piece of fabric with different colors to make a design. This type of sewing is easy and fun.
